Blogmas Day 8: A Christmas Weekend - Enchanted Lights and Holiday Bites

I just want to take a moment before we begin to call attention to the title of this blog - enchanted lights and holiday bites. Not gonna lie you guys - I'm a little proud of myself for that one.

Anyway, we are a full week into December and the Christmasy activities are in full swing!

This weekend Nate and I and my parents headed up to Prescott, Arizona to see the Enchanted Indoor Tour of Lights. This is the third year we've visited this attraction and let me tell you: it is delightful, impressive, inexpensive, Christmasy fun.

They are located in the Prescott Gateway Mall in the old Barnes and Noble and they've turned the space into a meandering 19 rooms (all themed!) which includes a model railroad display that is wildly detailed and intricate. All in all you're in for a total of 1/2 a million Christmas lights throughout the whole tour.

Themed rooms include candy cane lane, Disney, southwest (think cacti, etc.), Snoopy, and others. Notably missing however: any inkling of a Harry Potter theme.
I will be writing my Yelp review accordingly.

Nonetheless, only a $6 admission price and you can't really beat it.

Next up we drove down the road to the Prescott Resort and Conference Center to walk through the annual Gingerbread Village in the hotel lobby. It's free, open all the time and you can take as much time as you want gawking at the incredible gingerbread houses constructed by various community groups and families. Commence gawking:
When I'm telling you these are next level gingerbread houses puh-lease believe me. Case in point:
We ended the day at the hotel bar talking about bucket list items and watching wedding guests take selfies.

We've spent a Christmas weekend in Prescott before but this year this was just a day trip - and an easy one at that! Prescott is not far from the valley and neither of these attractions are all-day events - makes for a perfect day trip.

Sunday my mom, sister and I baked our little hearts out making all sorts of sweet treats.
With mimosas in hand, obvi.

There's a few things you need for a successful Christmas baking day and we had them all:
  • Christmas tunes
  • Festive aprons
  • Alcohol
  • Your body weight in peanut butter
  • Your body weight in frosting
  • Recipes that are in your family cookbook, that you've been baking for years on end
You didn't ask for that list but I am a blogger of the people and I am here to serve 😏.

How is your December treating you so far?!
