A Less Than Thrilling Weekend

Do you want to know how fantastic my weekend was?

I never put any make-up on. Not even once.

I took a nap on both Saturday and Sunday.

I ate Chinese food.

I drank wine.

I paid bills.

I watched football.

I watched baseball.

Aaaaaand that about sums it up.

Naturally, based on all the above-mentioned, I have no fancy pictures to show for it.
You're probably like, why is this girl even posting about her weekend if it was boring and doesn't even include pictures?
I really don't have a good answer for that.

Oh, actually, I got to hang out with my niece this weekend too. And I do have a picture of that.
No matter how the rest of this post goes down, it's all OK now cause we have a picture of Miley.
She's just the cutest.

I also really wanted to tell you all about the cuh-ray-zee ASU vs. Wisconsin football game that went down on Saturday, but truth be told, I really have no idea what happened. It doesn't seem like the media does either, with headlines containing words like, "bizarre final play," "controversial ending," "strange finish," etc. etc. ASU won and that's all that matters. Everything else is something like, 18 seconds left, QB did nor did not take a knee, whistle may or may not have been blown, all while the clock ran out and we won by 2.
Google the rest, it's fine.

And that's all I got for today.

Go easy on me Monday, would ya?

Weekend Wrap-Up

Holy smokes did I have a fun weekend.
I'm hoping everyone else can say the same.
Cause fun weekends are the shiz.

It started on Friday with my Husband's birthday.
If you didn't read his birthday post, find it here.
Nate's birthday is June 21st, both the "official" first day of summer, and the longest day of the year.
Nate gets to celebrate his birthday longer than anyone else, ever.
What a lucky duck.

We celebrated by hitting up Dave and Busters on Friday night with some friends and family.

We ate, drank, played games, and wasted all of our tokens on that stupid coin pusher machine.

It's whatevs though, cause since it was Nate's birthday, everyone gave us all their tickets.

Score.

Little Miley even came to wish Uncle Nay-Nay a Happy Birthday
She didn't say happy birthday necessarily, but it was implied when she smiled at him.
You know how it goes.

We love the Lindholm's!

Birthday boy.

Saturday we hung out at this place called Camp King: Swimming School for Dogs.
Also known as my parents house.

In line for swimming lessons:
Henry the Goldendoodle, with mom Charlene.
and Joey the black lab, with mom Sarah.

If you do the math on that one, Henry and Joey plus Maycee and Gunther...that's four dogs in one pool.
Whoa.

We'd been trying to get Henry and Joey over to swim for a few months now, but no one's plans were aligning...until this weekend.
And boy was it fun.

Joey didn't want to go in at first, but after a good shove, he was a natural and swam all around, even with no ball to retrieve.
The dude's a lab, I suppose we should've expected that.

Henry, on the other hand needed a little more coaxing.

...he wasn't havin' it.
Although, I will say, the actual act of swimming, he did really well at.
He swam the length of the pool to and from Charlene and her bf, Colin.
He just wouldn't go in on his own.
And whenever he did go in, his eyes were so big, it looked as if they were about to come out of his head.

In time Henry, in time.
You'll be a swimmin' machine.

It was definitely a stellar afternoon.
...Gunther, holdin' it down for the white boys all day.

Before swim lessons at Camp King, I got a pleasant surprise from my bloggy and real life friend Tyah, from Humble Haro Abode, saying she spontaneously decided to drive into Phoenix for the weekend and that we needed to get together.
Tyah lives about an hour and a half south of me so I don't get to see her that often.
So naturally, when she said she was in town I was like, "Umm, chyaa!

So we enjoyed chips and salsa and guacamole and margaritas while the sun went down Saturday night.
Yes, margaritas is plural.
Ain't no shame in our game.

Sunday we ended up back at Camp King: Swimming School for dogs, for some BBQ
and of course, swimming.
After two days in a row of herds of dogs in their pool, I looked at my mom lovingly and said, "Aren't you glad you guys are the one with the pool?!"

She laughed.

I wouldn't dare ask my dad that question.
I think I already know his answer.
And he'd for sure give me the stink-eye.

My sister made the mistake of taunting Gunny with her kick-board thing.
He decided he wanted it, and wouldn't leave her alone until he got it.
Mission accomplished.

And that was my amazeballs weekend.

Aaaand there's nothing like a Monday morning on the horizon to spoil your weekend fun.
So lame.
Ah, well, so is life.

Happy Monday folks!

A Really Fun Weekend

I love it when I have a good weekend.
This weekend was one of those weekends.

When I sat down to write this post, I told myself, "See how many times you can say the word 'weekend' in your opening sentences."

Just kidding.
I didn't say that.
But that was a lot of "weekends" in a just couple sentences, no?

Saturday the hubs and I were tasked with finding a cool new, super duper camp spot for our family camping trip next weekend.
It worked out nicely since my dad and almost brother-in-law were painting my parents' pool deck, which meant the pool was closed for business on Saturday.
So when it's 108 degrees and you can't swim in the pool, what do you do?

You leave.

And you drive a couple hours north where it's 20 degrees cooler and you find a cool new, super duper camp spot for your family camping trip next weekend.

So that's what we did.

After we did our due diligence and found a cool new, super duper camp spot - in addition to three alternative camp spots should camp spot #1 be taken next weekend...we took a fishing break.

Cause it just felt right.

And plus, I had a sweet new pink fishing pole that needed some breaking in.

We didn't catch anything.
It's whatevs though.
Cause as Randy Houser says, I was in a bit of a
"don't give a damn if they don't bite state of mind...I got sunshine on the line"

Bear Canyon Lake

We fished, and hung around, and Nate showed me some cool spots in the area, until the sun went down, and then we made our way back down to the valley.
And of course, hit up Sonic for 1/2 price milkshakes after 8pm.
Yesssss.

Sunday, to my surprise, my dad gave us the go-ahead to hit up the pool.
No dogs allowed though. ...their nails might've tore up the fresh new coat of paint on the deck.
If you ask me, that's pretty discriminatory.
Dogs are people too ok?

The afternoon pretty much looked like this:
For the boys, that is.

For my mom and I, it looked more like this:
Pool time is not complete without a Route 44 Diet Coke with regular cherry flavor and easy ice.
It's just not.

I definitely won't mention how we each had two in one afternoon, cause surely you'd judge us.
Especially considering I've already mentioned Sonic once in this post, you might think I have an unhealthy obsession with Sonic.
I don't, for the record.

Nate and my dad had a rousing game of HORSE going on.

Their shots started looking like this, and then it pretty much unraveled from there...
Believe it or not, they both actually made the dead-man-floating-upside-down-behind-the-back shot.
I know, I was impressed too.

We're in for a long, hot summer.
But if all my weekends go like this weekend, I'll be ok with that.

Weekend Wrap-up

Do I get bonus points for my weekend wrap-up being on time and posted on Monday?
Cause this one is totally on time and I'm feeling pretty good about it.
Although, right now I'm blogging instead of homeworking.
So while my blog might be on time, my homework may not be.
And the bad part is, I don't even really care.
You can read about that HERE.
...oh, and for the record...18 days 'til graduation.

Moving on.

I had a really fun Saturday that included hanging out with my friend and coworker, Quan.
She's leaving me soon to go back home to China and I'm really upset about it. ...but I told her I won't give her a guilt trip about it until her last day.
Anyway, she took me to have dim sum at a local Chinese restaurant, and it was delish! I don't really know exactly what I ate, considering I've never done dim sum before and told her to order all the food.
And she did.
In Mandarin.
And since I don't really speak Mandarin, I don't really know what she ordered.
Hopefully something with shrimp, cause I told her I like shrimp.
After we got our first pot of food I was excited to dig in...only then did I notice there was no silverware on the table.
Just chopsticks.
"Umm Quan? I'm pretty sure I don't know how to use these things."
She directed me to the counter where I could find a fork and a knife.
After I sat back down she goes, "there's lots of white people that come here too."
Translation: you're not the only one that can't use chopsticks.
Thanks Quan. I appreciate that.

Saturday night I hung out on the patio to enjoy some nice weather, some solitude, and some quality blog time.
You can read my post from this weekend HERE.
I wasn't sure I wanted to post it..cause it's kind of serious. And emotional, and all touchy-feely.
And serious, emotional, touchy-feely things make me uncomfortable.
But oh well. I already hit the "publish" button on that one.

Sunday included:
1.) Breakfast at The Good Egg...if you don't have a Good Egg in your neck of the woods,
I feel bad for you.
2.) Target
3.) Home Depot
...cause it's not really the weekend without a trip to Home Depot, right?
and
4.) Pool time
...for the dogs.
Technically they went swimming earlier this year, but it was mostly because they needed a bath and Nate and I were too lazy to give them one. So we said, hey, go jump in the pool.
So Sunday they were excited to actually swim around and play ball for the first time this season!

Exhibit B:

So you know, it was a good weekend.

Happy Monday!
