Ketchup Part II

It's a little embarrassing that we just finished Thanksgiving, and Halloween is just now making it onto the blog.

Coulda woulda shoulda been a better blogger.

Anyway...the thing I like the most about Halloween is not picking out a costume for myself...but rather, for my dogs. And the thing I like the most about dog costumes is that you can't really make a dog costume into a slutty version of whatever that costume is. Cause it annoys me enough when humans do that, I certainly would never let my dogs out of the house in a slutty Halloween costume.
Just sayin'.

I've always questioned weather it makes me a bad furmom if I like to get a laugh at the expense of my dogs...I've decided no, it doesn't.
And that's that.

Check out Maycee and Gunny's costumes from last year here

This year Gunther was the sheriff
And Maycee was a little piggy
...except Maycee's costume was too small so it didn't fit the right way and I was a little disappointed.
But I guess maybe there's some irony in that...little piggy, costume doesn't fit...
Just sayin'.
And as always, they were thrilled to be wearing costumes for the night.
But don't let Gunther's stink-eye fool you, he was totally pumped to be the Sheriff. He didn't even try to chew off the costume. He walked around with his fake gun in his fake holster and was like
"sup dogs, I'm the sheriff 'round these here parts."
In fact, since my sister-in-law and her dog Shelton joined us for the night, and Shelton was dressed as a prisoner, I had to reign in Gunther's Sheriff ego for the night.
Sheriff, prisoner...you know how that goes.

Now there's a stink-eye if I ever saw one...
All in all, I think the dogs enjoyed barking at all the trick-or-treaters, scaring them away with said barking, seeing how close they could get to the candy dish without getting yelled at, and last but not least, shredding their costumes at the end of the night.

Per the usual, Halloween the dogs made for a pretty entertaining night.

Sweet Treat Swap!

This Halloween season I decided to participate in the Sweet Treat Swap hosted by the lovely ladies Sarah over at Gracefully Made and Amy at Taking Steps Home
...cause who doesn't love sweet treats?!

I was paired with the lovely Amy from Taking Steps Home and I won't even lie...I felt a little special that my partner was the co-host of the swap!

Right off the bat I felt a little bad, cause she left a note apologizing for packing the box with grocery bags cause she ran out of tissue paper...cause when I mailed her package I forgot all about packing the box when it came time to fill it up; so hers didn't even have tissue paper in it, let alone grocery bags...so sorry Amy! Hopefully all your treats arrived in one piece!

The goods!
Amy sent me some granola from her favorite coffee shop, a couple cookie cutters, some Halloween tattoos (which I totally plan on donning tonight while I hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters), some coffee, and some pumpkin candles and decor.
So cute and so festive!
Thanks for my sweet treats Amy!!...I might've already made a bit of a dent in that coffee =)
If you haven't already, go check out her oh-so-fabulous blog, and her oh-so-fabulous Halloween decorations she posted about...you'll totally be impressed.

I am officially in love with blog swaps and I loved being able to partake in this one!!...cause in case I haven't mentioned it already...
Who doesn't love sweet treats?!!

Happy Halloween!

Pumpkins!

Joining in a new link up with Kathy over at Mama Kat's Losin' it, and her Pretty Much World Famous Writer's Workshop!
Mama’s Losin’ It
This week's writing prompt I chose is:

Pumpkins! Anything with Pumpkins!

Last weekend the husband and I headed up north to Prescott to check out Freeman Farms and their pumpkin patch!

Besides the pumpkins, Foster Farms has hay rides, corn mazes, shows, food, and a bunch of other stuff for kids...and since we don't have kids, well, we skipped that other stuff.
BUT we did enjoy a hay ride, a journey through the corn maze, some shows, and of course, the pumpkin patch.
While we were there for pumpkins, I got a little distracted by all the sunflowers that were there.
Cause sunflowers are mah thang.
I followed the clearly marked instructions and took their pictures...

Back to pumpkins...
What's neat about their pumpkin patch is that the pumpkins are actually growing on the vines! you meander through the patch, find one you like, and they come and cut it off the vine!

Since it's still pretty early in October, the pumpkins we got are serving as decoration for now; once it gets closer to Halloween we'll have to get new ones to actually carve. Which just means we'll have to make another trip to a pumpkin patch.
Dang. =)

High Five for Friday

Photobucket

Linking up with Lauren for my top five things from this week!

1.) New Scentsy's finally came in the mail
My house is beginning to smell like Fall!

2.) Sun Devil victory
ASU beat Colorado 51 to 17 to improve to a 5-1 record, 3-0 in the PAC 12.
Happy dance!!

3.) Halloween decorations!
Both in the office...

...and at home

...and unfortunately, I wish I could say this guy was a decoration
but he's not.
He's real.
And apparently he's staying, considering the husband bought him a cage...and a water dish...and a little cave to hang out in.
Awesome.
When I asked him why he brought home a tarantula he found out in the wild he answered, "cause it was crawling...so I grabbed it."
I can't argue with that I suppose.

4.) Check out this weather!
High's of 77 and 82 this weekend?! Bestill my heart!!

5.) What kind of a week would it be if my dogs weren't a highlight?!
Seriously, so cute right?!

Happy Friday!
