H54F

Linking up with Lauren today for my fav weekly blog partaaaay and my five favs from this week!

 photo H54Fbutton-1_zpsa7aaa665.png

1.) Out of town guests
My sister's wedding shower was last weekend (read about the scandal here), so a few of my family from out of town flew in for the weekend. We all had so much fun and I can't wait to see everyone again in October!

2.) Halloween DIY
Had a little DIY sesh for new holiday decorations.
Diggin' my tulle wreath.

You can try and tell me it's too early to put up Halloween decorations, but I've figured out a way to justify it to myself, so I'm totally OK with it.

3.) Harry Potter spin-off(ish)
Word on the street is JK Rowling is writing a movie script that's sorta kinda a spin-off of the Harry Potter series (aka the best book series ever written in the history of man and wizarding kind). I don't even care that Harry and company won't be in it - I just heard the words "JK Rowling" and "wizarding world" in the same sentence and I've been fan-girling out ever since.

4.) The pumpkin train
I jumped on it this week.
And I'm loooooving it.

5.) ASU vs. Wisconsin this weekend
Ooooh boy I'm excited for Saturday night.
It's gonna be a blackout at Sun Devil Stadium, and the game has been all over everything this week here in AZ...and it pumps me up.

Go Devils!

Happy Friday folks!

H54F

 photo H54Fbutton-1_zpsa7aaa665.png

It's Friday Friday gotta get down on Friday...

You're welcome for that.

Here's 5 of my favorite things from this week!

1.) You've probably already noticed by now, but I got a new blog design!
The idea of including a picture of my blog design in my blog post is kind of silly, but the blogger in me won't let me do a H54F without including pictures for everything.
So you know.
Brielle, from Eleven Love did such a fabulous job, and I'm so happy with how it turned out!

2.) This Twitter account:

I always love a good chuckle when I'm scrolling through my Twitter feed and I find gems like these:
I'm totally gonna use that last one in my next text convo.

3.) Backstreet's back...ALRIGHT!
Backstreet Boys.
In concert.
It's happening next month.
#90sgirlsolutions

4.) This app:
I learned of this app after my bloggy friend Kasey from Life and Love With Mr. Wonderful, posted about it on her Instagram feed.
Get it now.
It'll change your life.
And your pictures and stuff too.

5.) Happy Birthday to my dearest Pookie Charlene!
Today is her birthday, so wish her a happy birthday and sing her the birthday song.
Mentally.
Cause she won't be able to hear it from here.
And also check out her previous birthday posts here and here

Happy Friday peeps!

It's Friday, and you know what that means right?!
Linking up with Lauren for 5 of my fav things from this week!

1.) One of my dearest friends Kayla, from The Lindholm Life had her baby this week!
Below is big sister Kenzie holding her new brand new little brother.
Kayla and her husband Kenny welcomed their second child, baby boy Tate into the world! We can't wait to meet the little guy!

2.) Not only did baby Tate enjoy a birthday this week (quite literally), but so did Henry:
Henry turned one year old this week.
He's one of my other dearest friend Charlene's Golden Doodle.
He's growing up so fast, that Henry.

3.) Draw results are in and my hubs and I both got drawn for our deer hunts this fall!
The above picture is from my pig hunt earlier this year (you can read about that here).
I've never been on a deer hunt before, but that will change come November!

4.) The Dbacks scored 6 runs or more two nights in a row this week.
Do you know what that means?
Free tacos!
In case you don't live 'round these here parts, whenever the Dbacks score 6 runs or more, you can go to Taco Bell the next day, buy a drink and get 3 free tacos.

I don't even care that you probably just judged me for having taco bell twice in one week
...I like free stuff. And I like not having to cook dinner.
So really, it's a win-win.

5.) Lastly,
my weekend plans include a trip to Kinder Creek, and I'm pretty dang excited about it.
Read about last years visit HERE to take a looksie.

Technically, this hasn't happened within this week, so maybe it doesn't belong in this link-up,
but it's whatevs. I've been looking forward to it all week so I'm counting it.

Woop woop!!

Happy Friday peeps!

H54F

 photo H54Fbutton-1_zpsa7aaa665.png

Oh boy it's finally Friday.
I've been daydreaming about Friday since Tuesday...when I got back from vacation.
Cause we all know sometimes we need a vacation from vacation.
Hashtag firstworldproblems.

And since I've been making an effort to catch things up on this blog (check out parts  one and two here and here) this week's H54F might include a few things from last week.
Hashtag sorrynotsorry

1.) Dbacks game with Julie
I went to the Dbacks game last week with my friend Julie from grad school, which made it my second baseball game in four days.
And I'm not even made about it.

2.) Tyler Skaggs
So Tyler Skaggs is a starting pitcher for the Diamondbacks...
...and I just so happen to post the above picture of Julie and I at the game on Instagram...
...and when I checked my Insta the next morning...

Tyler Skaggs totally "liked my photo"
Whaaaaat??
I won't lie, I was kind of freaking out a little bit.
Julie and I were blowin' up our Gchat at work the next day, Googling the crap out of him.
The dude just turned 22.
Whaaat??
That's OK though, the cougar look could look good on me.
He's also 6 foot 5.
Whaaat?
I told Julie since I already have a husband, she and Tyler should totally get married, since they both like baseball and they're both really tall.

We're gonna work on making that happen.

3.) Gift card to Francesca's
I entered my very first giveaway ever over at Kasey's blog a couple weeks ago, and I totally won!
And it totally arrived in the mail last week!
I love Francesca's, and you should love it too, so if you haven't shopped there yet..do it now.
And if you haven't checked out Kasey's blog...do it now.
You'll love that too.

4.) Diploma finally arrived!
Now when I say I have my Master's degree, I actually have my Master's degree.

It's crazy to think you pay all that money...scratch that...you get into all that debt and all it boils down to is a piece of paper.
A really expensive piece of paper.
I don't care though.
I feel smart.

5.) Redondo Beach
My cousin tied the knot in Redondo Beach last weekend and it was a freakin' blast.
The wedding was amazing, and we made a mini-vacation out of the trip!
Can't wait to get it all up on the blog...so stay tuned for that.

Happy Friday everyone!

I felt like I was overdue for a High Five for Friday post.
So I figured I'd get on that.

Linking up with Lauren for five of my favorite things from this week!

1.) My crush on Paul Goldschmidt won't go away.
It just won't.
And I think I've come to terms with it.
#sorrynotsorry

Speaking of Paul Goldschmidt, you should totally log onto MLB.com and vote for him for National League All-Star first baseman.
I'll give you a cookie if you do.

He's having a stellar year.
To go along with his stellar face.
I feel like his smile alone should get him into the All-Star game, but I'm pretty sure "smile-that-makes-your-heart-rate-increase" is not in the criteria.
We should fix that.

2.) My awesome new t-shirt thanks to my lovely and thoughtful friend Kayla over at The Lindholm Life.
Makes me happy happy happy.
So does Paul Goldschmidt, but we already went over that.

3.) The NBA Draft happened this week and the Phoenix Suns had the 5th overall pick.
I won't pretend like I know the politics of the Draft, or even NCAA basketball for that matter, but my fav sports talk-show hosts are saying it was a good pick.
So that's what I'm gonna go with.
And plus my dad gave it the thumbs up too.
My dad always knows what he's talking about.

4.) So You Think You Can Dance season 10 is finally underway!
Technically it started last month, but I'm not a fan of all the audition shows.
Snoooooze.

5.) The hubs and I started carpooling to work this week.
You can tell how excited he is by the picture above.
We've never ever been on the same work schedule until now, and we've certainly never carpooled to our jobs before.
Come Monday morning we got in the car to leave and I looked at him and was like, "Hmm...this is weird seeing you here. In my car. On a Monday morning at 6:30am. With me."
I dig it though.

Happy Friday folks!

I love me some Friday's!
Linking up with Lauren today for five of my favorites from this week!

1.) Badminton
My mom bought a backyard badminton set for us to play with this summer, so we decided last weekend we needed to start breaking it in. Namely, just the rackets and the birdies; we didn't mess with the net, or the rules for that matter either. Which is a good thing since we were all over that backyard.
Case in point:
Things got cuh-ray-zee when shuttlecocks started landing in the tree. And on the roof.
And because I'm a mature 26 year old I used the word 'shuttlecock' at every chance I
 got all afternoon.

2.) Gallery wall.
I finally finished it.
Boom.
I think it turned out OK, no?

3.) Fooshaw
What's fooshaw? Per Doug and Wolf, a local sports talk radio show, it's the thing you say when you don't know what to say. And I totally won a fooshaw t-shirt this week. And I'm pretty dang pumped about it!! I never win anything!
Yay me!

4.) Financial Peace University
Nate and I officially graduated from Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University this week!
If you've never taken this class or never heard of Dave Ramsey, you should totally look him up, look up the class, look up his books, and his website.
Like, now.
It's one of the best things my husband and I have gone through together; we absolutely enjoyed every week!

5.) Downtown
As I have mentioned before, I work in downtown Phoenix, right across the street from the capital building (pictured above), the Senate and House of Representatives, and some other neat things within the Government Mall. Since the weather's been so nice lately, and in an effort to avoid the office chair for literally eight hours a day, my friend and coworker Quan and I have started taking walks. A couple a day, and I'm totally diggin' them.
We take a different route every time...and every time I hope to run in to Jan. You know, Governor Brewer..we're totes on a first name basis...but so far I haven't run into her loitering in the middle of the Government Mall anywhere. And why would I? She's probably got her hands full, pissing off someone new at the legislature anyway.
That's just Jan being Jan I suppose.

Quan and I walked over to Wesley Bowlin Memorial Plaza this week and there's a new monument that just opened on the Bill of Rights, and it's easily one of my new favorites!
There's a pillar for each of the first 10 Amendments of the Constitution, and the writing is inscribed in the stone.
Love.
Love.
Love.

Honorable mention this week goes out to my bro-in-law, as it was his birthday!
If he gets mad at me for this pic, I don't even care. I told him to smile and this is the smile he gave me.
Sorry Dan.
Anyway, Dan was so thrilled about turning another year older that we couldn't even make it through the birthday song before he crashed.
Poor guy didn't even get to blow out his candles.

Just kidding.
He totally did.
A birthday without candles would be a tragedy.
Happy Birthday Dan!!!

And happy Friday bloggy friends!!

Oh High Five for Friday, how I've missed you!
Linking up with Lauren today over at From My Grey Desk, for my top five things from this week!

1.) Thursday was my dear friend Abel's birthday...who's wife just happens to be one of my bff's. In fact, you can check her out over at Humble Haro Abode
See, my hubs and her hubs (Abel, that is) became man-friends when they were just knee-high to a grasshopper.
Then I met Abel
Then in High School, Abel met Tyah.
Then I met Tyah.
Then we became bff's.
Then we were all in each other's weddings.
How presh.
Happy Birthday Abel!

2.) I found this Twitter account this week
...and it has quickly become one of my favs.
If you like funny things, you'll love having these one-liners in your Twitter feed.
Hilair.
Although, I probably shouldn't be telling you all about it, that way I can crack funny jokes and puns and you all would think I'm the really funny one.
Just kidding.
That'd be plagiarism...and I've read enough syllabi on academic integrity in my day to know that that's a no-no.

3.) Suns beat Lakers...in blow-out fashion
I know, bummer, right Kobe?
#sorryimnotsorry

4.) New season of Dancing with the Stars started this week too
Team Aly all the way...

5.) This meme:
ahh political humor. I just can't get enough.

Happy Friday folks!
