Wait, It's Almost October?

It's weird because the more I force myself to start blogging again the more I notice I'm starting to employ my former homework stall tactics: check FB, check Insta, scroll through Twitter, see if anything good is on the Bravo network, make the dogs give me high fives, pour a glass of wine (homework and wine go together right?), Snapchat my glass of wine, etc. etc. and so forth. This really prolongs the blogging process if I'm not careful. For example I sat down here tonight just after 6 to try and blog...it's almost 8 now. In my defense though, my iOS 8 download was being a real bish and required my attention for like, 10 hours. I'm being dramatic, but part of me feels like it really did take that long.

Anyway, now that I'm done blogging summer (if you missed it, read here, here, and here) I feel like I can officially get into Fall mode. It's gotten off to a good start, that's for sure.

It took me a while, but I finally got my Halloween decorations up.
It took me a while because I feel like you have to give your house a good cleaning before you put up your seasonal decor and well, we all know how I feel about house cleaning. So I was procrastinating cleaning things which in turn delayed the decorating of things. I finally got the rest of it up this weekend, but I'm still ahead of schedule right? So it's whatevs.

Beyond just decorating for fall, the fall weather is starting, albeit ever so slowly, to come around. Fall weather, or maybe more realistically, weather that's not 115 degrees, makes the concert-going experience much more enjoyable. Outdoor concerts, that is. For example, a couple weekends ago I went to see Florida Georgia Line and Jason Aldean in concert and it was an awesome time for three reasons:
1.) Florida Georgia Line
2.) Jason Aldean
3.) It wasn't 115 degrees
I was on a little bit of a boycott of country music for a while there because it was soooo annoying and super generic...and that's coming from a girl whose favorite music is country; but I feel like there's new stuff coming out and new stuff (finally!) on the radio so I've been coming around to it more often. Binge listening to Jason Aldean's old stuff before the concert actually kind of made me miss him.
In hindsight, there's only like three songs on his latest CD that were dumb and rap-ish and I'm wondering if maybe I over-generalized his douchey-ness. I dunno though cause "Burnin' it Down" is pretty bad. But maybe the rest of his new stuff will be better.

Speaking of better country music, if you haven't already, puh-lease go by Tim McGraw's new one.
It's good. It's quality. It's Classic Tim. Thanks Tim, for restoring my faith in today's main stream country music.

You know who else can restore my faith in things? Paul Goldschmidt. After an awful season of baseball, I finally got the bobble head of all bobble heads: Paul Goldschmidt.
...And suddenly everything is ok and I forget that we had the worst record in all of baseball. THE WORST. But it's ok because, Goldy. We spent our last game at the ballpark this season in his presence. Or, his bobble head's presence. Which is basically the same thing.
I'm sad there will be no Dbacks baseball in the fall but I'm happy the bleeding has finally stopped. Cause that was a painful season.

And with that, I think my life is finally caught up on this here blog of mine. So see ya in another 2 months. Just kidding. I think. If this were a text message I'd put a little winky face emoji here.

See ya September! Helloooooo October!

Summer Recap 3rd Edition: Blog Fraans

When people ask "What's your favorite thing about blogging?" the cliche answer is usually, "the people you meet!" Even though it's cliche, it's 100% true. This year I've been fortunate enough to forge a handful of blog-friendships turned real-life-friendships. Two of those being Kailey from Hey Kai, and Brianna from Endlessly Beloved. I probably talk about them too much, like here and here, but whatevs; I'm gonna talk about them again. Cause it fits nicely into my summer recap theme.

Since Brianna spent most of the summer in Montana, we didn't get to see her as often, so we made sure to Skype over the summer...
There's usually wine involved. Actually, what I really mean is there's always wine involved. Cause virtual happy hours are the best kind of happy hours right?

Kailey and I got in some good pool time while Brianna was away. We Snapchatted her the whole time though, so it was basically like she was there.

We also got in a good day's worth of slip n sliding, cause that's been on my summer bucket list for like 2 years now. And every time I bring it up to Nate he's like, "Who's gonna slip n slide with you?" And I'm like, "You!" And then he's like, "I'm not doing that. Sorry." I dunno what he's got against slip n slides, but it worked out for the better cause Kailey and I slipped n slid our little hearts out. ...And queue photo dump:
Ages 5-12...
The dogs weren't just gonna sit there and not join in...
Go big or go home...
 Kailey's super graceful, we discovered.
Buying a slip n slide might've been the best decision I made all summer.

Once Brianna finally got back in town Kailey and I made our way down to Tucson to spend the last weekend of summer with her.
First stop, In N Out.
There's no In N Out's in Montana so needless to say, Brianna had a long summer. Post In N Out, what better way to end the summer than with blog-friends-turned-real-life-friends and fireball. And Cards Against Humanity.
How do you play Cards Against Humanity with only three people?? You do. It works. Just trust me. A few rounds in we started to dissolve into a puddle of Fireball, and laughter, and Leona Lewis' Bleeding Love...
After a while, Kailey disappeared to the bathroom and like, never came out. Brianna and I got concerned and kept knocking on the bathroom door to see if she was in there. I said, "Kailey, knock three times if you're still alive" and she knocked three times. So my due diligence as a friend to make sure she was still alive was fulfilled. Shortly thereafter we received this Snap...
It's probably my favorite picture from the whole weekend. Kailey crashed before Brianna and I, and oddly enough, considering the amount of Fireball consumption from the night, we fell asleep discussing health insurance. So you know, that's normal right?

The next day we tried to get in some pool time buuuuuut Brianna lives in a student housing complex and it was clear there was a party the night before. i.e. it was filthy and the pool water looked nasty.
So we ended up just lounging around her apartment together for the rest of the day. Which was fine by me. Cause after an awesome summer, being lazy with some of my bff's was much needed.

And I think that about wraps up summer, for the most part. It was a good one with lots of fun, sun, drinks, and bathing suits. Here's to an even better Fall season! Cheers!

Summer Recap 2nd Edition: Things That Don't Make Sense

If you missed the first edition of my summer recap(s) you can find it here. There's catfish in it. And stuff. So go take a peeksy.

Onto the 2nd edition of summer fun that never made it onto le blog. There's lots of things that don't make sense in this world. For example:
Cats.
Bad jokes.
Kanye West.
Really hard math.
...and also, Potato Lake.

I'd never been to, nor heard of, Potato Lake in Arizona until last month. I wanted to go some place new over the weekend so I picked up my handy dandy "Water Edition" of Arizona Highways Magazine (which, if you live in AZ do yourself a favor and buy this Edition every summer. You won't regret it) and stumbled upon Potato Lake.

Potato Lake doesn't make sense cause umm, this is a lake??

I guess it used to be like, a lake lake, but there was some issues or changes in the drainage or water flow or something causing it to shrink significantly in size over time. I didn't read all the back story like Nate did, I was just like "Woooo day trip! Let's goooo!" So that's what we did. We loaded up the dogs and made the drive up north for the day.

The idea was to have like, a picnic-ish kind of thing and just kind of hang out and explore all day but it rained almost the whole way there and never really let up. Even so, I wasn't going to complain cause,
1.) I love rain
2.) I love rain a lot
3.) 59 degrees in August???
...and lastly, 4.)
It's literally impossible to complain when there's wine. Duck Commander wine. With a pink label. And plus the rain was making for this like, haze over everything and it gave the place a very Forbidden Forrest type of vibe. Which I also wouldn't complain about cause duh, Harry Potter.

As soon as we let the dogs out of the truck Maycee, ignoring all commands, made a bee-line for the water line which conveniently was also suuuuper muddy. So she got in trouble and had to be washed off before she could get back in the truck.
And then Nate gave her the silent treatment the whole way home.

But even despite the rain and Maycee being a bad girl and getting mud all over the inside of the truck, Potato Lake - while its name is certainly confusing and possibly false advertisement, it was such a fun day. Some things may not make sense, but they still make for a lot of fun.
...that was a cheesy way to end this post but I couldn't think of any other way to do it. So yeah.
