This Weekend I...

I'm excited to be linking up for the first time with Syndal and Sarah for a weekend re-cap!

This weekend I...

...moved furniture
A lot of furniture.
We took some bedroom furniture off the hands of my sister-in-law and her fiance, and our new couch we bought three weeks ago was finally ready to be picked up!
I probably shouldn't take too much credit for actually moving all the furniture.
I moved one piece and then the husband was like, "you're useless...no offense." And then we recruited his brother to help us, and paid him in beer.
So I'd say it was a win-win.
It's pretty huge and there's really nowhere to walk right now, so we have to do some rearranging and then I think we'll be ok.
But don't tell that to my parents.
Cause when they asked, I totally told them we measured it before we bought it.
Oopsie.
Although since my mom reads my blog, the cat may be outta the bag on that one.
Oopsie.

...enjoyed some rainy weather
We don't get much rain out here in AZ, so when we do everyone's all excited, and I forget how to turn on my windshield wipers, and my Facebook news feed is filled with status updates about how rainy and awesome it is outside.

...went to my sister-in-law's baby shower

and lemme tell ya...girlfriend scored some serious loot!
I can't wait to meet baby Miley and be an aunt for the first time!

Now that my weekend has been officially recapped...I'm gonna go sit on my new couch some more, and make fun of the dogs cause I get a big huge couch and they get a dog bed in the corner.
Neener neener neener...

First Ever Guest Post Extravaganza

Hi folks!
So today, I have a special treat for you.
My awesome bloggy friend Rachel and I are guest posting for each other!
Woop woop!
Are we out of town and can't blog? No.
Are we sick and need someone to fill in for us? No.
We just wanna swap blogs for the day cause we thought it'd be fun.
And Rachel is pretty dang cool.
So there.
So check out Rachel from Rachel's Country Roots below, and check me out over at her neck of the woods here.

So without further ado, I give to you...
Rachel!!

Hey guys! Rachel here over at Rachel's Country Roots. Carissa asked me to guest post which I am super happy about it! She is super sweet and awesome. She can hunt with a bow and she loves country music like I do. I feel like we are long lost twins!

No..maybe? If not long lost twins...we are just going to be best friends one day..I can tell!

She also has the cutest dogs ever. Love seeing those little pooches!!! And her hubs? Awesome guy! How can you not! He is a straight up country man! She even dressed up her dogs before..love it! Carissa is one heck of a chick! Love her!

So I blog about the most random stuff that just pops up into my head! For those who do not know who I am, here is a quick preview! I love cowboy boots, my bedroom is done in camo, I love my pups, anything monogrammed, have a wonderful country hubs of a few years and I am a little bit stalker-ish about Miranda Lambert. In fact..just saw her over the weekend!

I acted like a complete fool but it was worth it! I believe that it is okay though because
a. I will never see these people again
b. You should be allowed to "let your hair down" every now in then
c. Who cares??

No but for real I danced like a fool and did not care. Another lovely girl was fist pumping..not up in the air but directly in front of her..Bless her heart! I also flat footed..fun times right there y'all.  A country concert is just the best place to dance your inner redneck out!! Miss Riss here is going to be seeing T-Swift here soon in the May...in which she will dance her heart out and be a little redneck country girl and have the time of her life!

To sum it all up...Carissa and me are two country chicks who love country life, our country hubs, our dogs, country music, hunting, the bachelor, and all the other good things in life!

Losers

There was a lot of hiring and firing going on this weekend in Arizona sports.

You see, it's not been easy to be an Arizona sports fan lately.
Actually, scratch that.
It's not been easy to be an Arizona sports fan for the last 12+ months.
Be it the Cardinals (NFL), the Suns (NBA), the Diamondbacks (MLB), ASU, or even the Coyotes (NHL)...but since I don't really follow hockey I dunno much about that sitch.

The Cardinals head coach was promptly fired this season after finishing with a 5-11 record.
The Suns head coach was just canned on Friday for only winning 13 games in the entire sesason so far.
And after high hopes for the D-backs last season, they barely finished 1 game above a .500 for their first consecutive winning seasons since 2007-08. ...but still missed the playoffs.

That's a lot of losing, if you ask me.
And out here in AZ, I think I can speak for all of us when I say we're tired of losing.

So when I'm tired of losing and irritated at these front offices making terrible decisions for the teams I root for...I have refer to the 10 Commandments of Arizona sports, to reassure myself, that maybe, just maybe, some day before I die, Arizona will have winning professional sports teams.

Ahem...

1.) Thou shalt not be a fair-weather fan.

2.) Thou shalt not take Steve Nash's name in vain
...even if he does betray you and go play for the Lakers.

3.) Thou shalt not covet other professional sports teams' players, management, winning records, or championship rings. ...none of which, are in your near future.

4.) Honor thy teams that have won in the past, for it may be a while before it happens again.
2001 Arizona Diamondbacks

5.) Thou shalt not question bad trades, bad hirings or firings, or any other questionable decisions from the front office...cause the more you think about it, the more mad you'll get.

6.) Thou shalt always remember the pool.
Cause hey, if the team's losing, at least you still have a cool pool in your baseball stadium.
And air conditioning.
We have air conditioning too.

7.) Thou shalt obey thy Baxter, Gorilla, and Big Red

8.) Thou shalt fork 'em

9.) Thou shalt understand: there's nowhere to go but up...when you're last

10.) Thou shalt always remember: you're not a real fan, unless you're still a fan when they're losing.
...thanks for that nugget of wisdom, dad.

So, in the meantime, I'll pray for the coming baseball season, try to stomach the rest of the NBA season, and ask for blessings for the new Cardinals head coach.

Amen.

H54F

It's Friday...and you guessed it:
Time for another edition of H54F, linking up with Lauren over at From My Grey Desk

Let's get down to it shall we? Cause I just got done posting a zillion things on the discussion board for my online class, and as much as I want to go to sleep I just can't pass up a good H54F.

1.) Last weekend I took Maycee and Gunther on a walk with my mom and her dog (Hammick), and uncle Hammy loved showing them his neighborhood.
"...and to your left you'll find the mailbox post that smells really good, and up ahead you'll want to stop and try some of the dead grass I just love to eat."
The fence to the school yard was even unlocked so they got to run around like the wild animals they are.

Seriously, presh right?!

2.) I finally got around to switching out all the pictures in my hallway picture frame wall. Since they'd been the same since we moved in... like 3 years ago, I figured they could use some updating.

3.) Tickets have been officially purchased.
Oh yeah.
Can't wait to get our T-Swift on for the third year in a row with my dear friend Kayla from The Lindholm Life.

4.) My new rest came in for my bow.
In case you missed it, I got a bow for Christmas...as in bow and arrow.
And I've been getting my Hunger Games on a lot lately.
And the rest is the part of the bow that the arrow, well, rests on, before it gets flung...hopefully the husband's not reading this cause he'd be like "what the eff kind of a description is that??"
I'm still a newb, so I still don't know what everything does or why it does it.
Workin' on it.
The husband's all excited and tells me what a nice rest it is and all the fancy technology behind it and all the good it will do for my shooting.
But since I don't really know what all of that means yet, quite frankly I'm just excited cause it's pink.
And the more pink I can get on my bow, the better.

5.) I started planning our trip to New Mexico to see the King!
In case you missed it, I was an awesome wife this Christmas and got Nate tickets to see Yours Truly in concert. And since he's never seen him live before, and it's his last tour, it's gonna be extra awesome.
But since George isn't coming to Phoenix for his last tour ever, Nate and I are road-tripping it out to New Mexico. And since the concert is over our anniversary weekend, we're gonna make a mini-vacay out of it. ...which by the way, there's so much more to do in New Mexico that I thought.
Pleasantly surprised.

Happy Friday folks!!

Caught Red Handed: Bachelor Style

After a few seasons of seeing all the fuss about The Bachelor/Bachelorette all over the blogosphere, and threatening to watch it just so I could participate in all the fuss...and since I'm a sucker for peer pressure... I finally gave in.

I gave up my Bachelor V-Card and started watching.
Sounds weird.
But you know what I mean.

So I thought tonight would be the perfect night to catch up on last night's episode since Nate would be at lacrosse practice. There's a list of shows I can only watch when Nate's not home. Cause if I watch them while he's home he surely will pass judgement on me.
Which is fine.
Cause sometimes I pass judgement on myself for watching trashy reality TV.
But hey, everyone's got their skeletons right?

Anyway, tonight, as I was happily eating my spinach ravioli from Costco, and totally devouring the quality programming before me ...Nate came home.

Damn.

Busted.

It wasn't even during a commercial break, so I couldn't even have tried to change the channel and act like I was watching River Monsters or something.
Nope, I was caught red handed with the TV on in all it's Bachelor glory.

It didn't take long before Nate asks, "why are we watching this?"
It didn't take much longer for the commentary from the peanut gallery to start:

"That's not where you're gonna find love stupid."
"What's with her face?"
"This show is dumb. All it is, is a bunch of drama."
Me: "Nate it's almost over..."
Nate: "good, this is annoying."

Whatever. Nate likes "You've Got Mail," so...there.

Early favs:
Leslie M.

Desiree

aaaaand that's kind of it. They had the most air time in this week's episode, so I don't really know about the other ones yet.
Except for Sarah...she had a lot of air time, but she kinda sounds like Kourtney Kardashian to me, and I don't like it when things remind me of the Kardashians.

Looks like I have plans every Monday night for the foreseeable future...

For the Record

I would just like to say, for the record...that it was colder today in Arizona than it was in Alaska.

Alaska.

...and it still is.
It didn't get above 45 degrees today. And you could totally tell.
People were bundled up as if there were six inches of snow on the ground...myself included.

I didn't take my jacket or my scarf off all day (including inside my office).
I took the long way around to the cafeteria so I wouldn't have to walk outside.
I avoided the restroom at all costs because I didn't want to have to drop my pants and sit on a freezing cold toilet seat.
I didn't eat my orange I brought for lunch cause, well, it had been in the refrigerator...and the refrigerator is cold.
And my Facebook news feed is nothing but everyone posting about how cold it is.

Us Arizonans, we're never happy.
We're mad in the summer when its too hot and 120 degrees and then we're mad in the winter when its too cold and 45. Which I think is kind of funny because I've seen a handful of bloggers post about how it's 50 degrees where they live and they're like "not bad for January! Feels pretty warm! I think I'll put some sandals on!"
In Arizona it's 50 degrees and the sky is falling.

Truly.

By the way, I wasn't sure what city in Alaska to google to find out the weather. So I picked Sitka cause it made me think of the movie "The Proposal."
With Ryan Reynolds.
And Ryan Reynolds is way cute.
And I always like to be reminded of Ryan Reynolds.

Oh and I remembered this really funny joke:
Carissa: What's the capital of Alaska?
Reader: I dunno, what?!
Carissa: I dunno, JUNEAU??
...get it? Juneau? D'you know? See what I did there?

Now that the husband is asleep I'm gonna go turn on my space heater.

Stay warm out there, my friends. Cause out here in AZ, we're having a hard time figuring out how.

Oops I did it Again

I broke my cardinal rule...back to back link-ups.
Shoot dang.
That means I haven't blogged all week.
Shoot dang.

Oh well...onward and upward.

It's time for this week's edition of High Five for Friday with Lauren from From my Grey Desk
...that was two froms in a row, anyone else catch that?

1.) Last weekend we bought a new couch. I'm freakin' thrilled about this for a number of reasons:
1.) It's new furniture
2.) We scored a pretty good deal on it
3.) I finally have something to put my feet on!
That last one is the reason I'm most thrilled about, cause right now we don't have anything to put our feet on. No recliners, no ottoman, no nothin'. So now I can kick my feet up and stretch out!
As excited as I am for our new couch, I'm just as disappointed for ONE reason:
1.) It doesn't get delivered for THREE weeks.
Three.
That's a lot of weeks.
You know, all things considered.

2.) My new Erin Condren Lifeplanner arrived!!!
Two words: IN LOVE.
2013 can now officially begin.

3.) School started
This normally is not something that would be the highlight of my week, but considering it's the last time I will ever start a semester, I figured we might as well get this show on the road. That's right, I had my last first day of school this week and the countdown to graduation is now in full force!

4.) Found this awesome new app thanks to my friend Amanda over at My Love for Lyla
It's called Cuptakes and it has over 350 different (and way cute) home and lock screens for your iphone.
Check it.
You'll dig it.

5.) Got this shout out from Rachel over at Rachel's Country Roots
Totally made my day.
Go check out her blog, it's good stuff. ...and plus her dogs are really cute

I'm happy to say I survived my first full (an entire 5 days) week back at work after all the holidays.
Survived, but definitely a doozy!

Happy Friday!

High Five for Friday

Photobucket
It's time for another edition of H54F

Aaaaaand action...
1.) Happy New Year!
I wish I had something exciting to report, like how I went to this awesome NYE party and partied my brains out.
But since that's not really my style, I hung out with my dogs and watched Ryan Seacrest on TV instead. And it was just as awesome.
2.) ASU won their bowl game
It wasn't the Rose Bowl or anything, but we won. So that's really all I care about.
Go Devils!
3.) I'm getting better at shooting my bow
You can go ahead and call me Katniss...
4.) Nate killed a javelina, which means...javelina brats for dinner!
Mmmm
5.) My Erin Condren LifePlanner shipped! Can't wait to get it in the mail...I feel like a lost puppy without my planner
Hooray is right Ms. Condren

Have a fabulous weekend friends!
